On Friday May 30, 2008, a social worker from Sanjeevani Booti conducted an interview with three hijras at the organization’s office in Varanasi. The questions of the interview were centered around what a hijra is and what the business of a hijra is.
The conclusion in the report does not express the totality of hijra culture, but the answers to the questions suggest that hijras are spiritually-potent, intersex, celebration-performers.
