Sanjeevani Booti's mission is to improve public health through education. We primarily teach safe practices regarding sex and injection-drug use, and we draw some of our techniques from organizations in the America, Europe, the British Commonwealth, and South Africa. However, most of these techniques do not apply in the context of the desi (local) culture.
Many of the problems associated with health education in other places are non-existent in India, and almost all of the problems that foreign educators have in India exist nowhere else. Indian society as a whole is more receptive to listening to new ideas about public health than most other cultures, but still, anyone who has an interest in the state of blood-borne illnesses in South Asia would do well to learn as much as they can about the most obvious and influencing social issues which will affect HIV education.
